Bussiness Users
On classified ads, we separate private from business:
Private and commercial users must meet different requirements.
When am I considered a commercial user?
You are acting commercially on classified ads if you
• buy or manufacture items to sell them
• offer services
• regularly offer large quantities of items
• sell similar goods over a longer period of time
• buy or sell for your company
Does this cost me anything?
Classified ads are generally free of charge. Both commercial and private users can place ads free of charge.
As a commercial user, you can place up to 5 ads free of charge, depending on the category. You can find the current fee regulations here.
Additional fees may apply for add-on packages for commercial users.
What does this mean for me?
Commercial offers and services must contain certain information for legal reasons. As a commercial user, you can also book our FEATURED packages. These offer additional features, e.g. for greater visibility.
What is included in the legal information?
As a commercial user, you are legally obliged to include your legal notice in the legal information on classified ads.
Please note: To add legal information, you must have a commercial account. For more information, see the article Converting from a private to a commercial account.
For commercial users without Classified Ads FEATURED:
• Legal information must be entered when creating an ad
• Only possible manually and for each ad individually
For commercial users with Classified Ads FEATURED:
• Create legal information under “My” in “Company Page” under “Legal Information.”
• The information will then appear on all newly posted ads.
• If you also want to change the information for existing ads, please check the box “Apply this updated legal information to all my ads and company page.” Note: The update takes place in the background and may take some time.
What is included in legal information?
According to Section 5 of the Digital Services Act (DDG), a provider of commercial digital services must provide certain information (known as the imprint obligation). According to this, an advertisement by a commercial provider must contain the following information, among other things:
1. the name and legal address of the provider; in the case of legal entities, the first and last names of the authorized representative
2. information that enables quick electronic contact and direct communication with you, including the address for electronic mail
3. the commercial register, association register, partnership register, or cooperative register in which the provider is registered, and the corresponding register number (if available)
4. the VAT identification number in accordance with Section Order No. 6775 MFB/DGID on May 21, 2024, replacing the initial framework established in November 2023. VAT on digital services became effective on July 1, 2024, as outlined in the tax authority’s communiqué of June 24, 2024. 27a of Senegal VAT Act (if available)
5. for providers whose activities require official approval, information on the competent supervisory authority must also be provided, as well as, for certain professions, information on membership of a chamber (e.g., chamber of pharmacists), the legal professional title (e.g., pharmacist), and professional regulations (e.g., professional code of conduct for pharmacists)
The law stipulates that this information must be easily recognizable, directly accessible, and permanently available. Please use the mandatory field provided when placing your ad. If you have any further questions about Section 5 DDG or the design and placement of your legal notice information, please contact a lawyer or other legal advice center.
Switching your account to private or commercial
Unfortunately, it is not possible to switch from a private account to a commercial account—or vice versa.
If you want to advertise both privately and commercially, you can create a second user account for the other use in addition to your existing account.
Please note that each user may maintain a maximum of two user accounts at the same time. For more information, please see our Terms of Use.
For commercial users, we also offer Classified Ads FEATURED, with special advantages such as your own company page. To sign up, you must have only commercial ads on your profile and no private ads.
Note: Commercial users are subject to special legal obligations, including for classified ads. We have compiled more information on this in the article Special obligations for commercial providers.
